Is Your Cellphone Being Eavesdropped On? What to Do About It

Thinking of a life without mobile communication is impossible today. Isn’t it? Mobile communication has myriad benefits but with all the advantages there are some serious hazards involved as well. It is very easy to become a victim of eavesdropping through mobile wiretapping.

Legally stating, it is against the law to eavesdrop on anyone except for special occasions when the eavesdropping is done by law enforcements and they must have a warrant for it. This is the main reason you must know whether you are being eaves dropped on or not.

One of the foremost things that you should look out for is the battery temperature of your smartphone. We are not saying that a vulnerable or compromised smartphone will always have a hot battery even when it is not in use. It is alright to have a hot battery normally while you are using the phone or if you talking on the phone or extensively using it. But, it is abnormal to have a phone that is simply hot all the time. This is due to the reason that there might be a spy app installed on your phone which is spying on you while you don’t even realize.

We highly recommend that you take note of any unusual behavior of your smartphone or any other mobile gadgets like tablets as well. Doing so will definitely reduce the risk of being eaves dropped on without a warrant (illegally). In certain cases, if you notice that it takes unusually long to turn off your mobile device then there may be a spy app installed in your device, which is taking the time to close itself before your phone is completely switched off.

You can also keep a track on the battery power level. If you notice that your battery is draining heavily even when it is on standby or when you are not extensively using your phone. This may be due to the third party illegal application that the hackers have installed on your phone to eaves drop on your private calls. It should be noted that old batteries tend to die too easily so always check up with your mobile operator to see if there is something fishy that is happening without your permission.

If your cellphone causes disturbance with any audio equipment, even when you are not using it – there is a high chance that your sensitive data is getting transferred to evil doers. In many occasions we have accumulated that mobile devices that are wiretapped have unusual static noises or other disturbances or clicks during the phone calls. In this case, it would be a good idea to use another device or SIM card for your sensitive topics. You must note that wiretapping is not that easy and it can only be accomplished with the cooperation of your mobile carrier providers – so if you are getting wiretapped then it might be done by law officials with a possible warrant against your name.

Modern smartphones are extremely prone to eavesdropping applications. To ensure that you do not install or let others install any illegal application on your phone, you must keep a check on the list of installed applications on your phone. This list can be easily accessed by going to your smart phone settings and then clicking on the Apps / Applications tab. Under the tab, you will see a list of applications that have either come pre-installed when you took the phone or have been installed by you. If you see any unusual application that you might not have installed, do a background check on the application on the Internet and un-install it immediately if it seems fishy.

If you still think that you are being compromised then you should check your smartphone for any malware and if you are using Android – then check the application permissions for what applications are being given how much freedom in your cell phone.  This is one of the best ways of detecting a spy application on your smartphone.

The last step that you should take if you feel that it is beyond you to find out if your cellphone is being eavesdropped on is by contacting the police. They have special equipment which can easily narrow down on suspicious activities in a cell phone.

The best way to ensure that your mobile data does not get compromised is by keeping your phone with you all the times. Don’t send your phone to suspicious or cheap mobile repair shops and don’t install any third party applications on your phone as well.

Mobile phone jammers can block all sorts of eavesdropping for a small period of time. They can be used in times when you need to convey some sensitive information over the phone to your family or colleagues. You must remember that your safety is your decision.
