The Canon PowerShot ELPH 170 IS digital camera features a 12x Optical Zoom lens (equivalent to 25-300mm) while the Canon PowerShot ELPH 160 digital camera features a powerful 8x Optical Zoom lens (equivalent to 28-224mm). Both the digital cameras comes with slim and stylish look and a 20MP CCD sensor that allows user to capture pictures and record 720p HD video footage quickly and simply by pressing the dedicated movie button.
Some of the modes in the Canon PowerShot ELPH 170 IS includes the Smart AUTO mode that automatically selects the optimal settings so as to get best possible image all the time and the ECO mode that let extend battery life of the camera allowing more photos to be taken over a longer period of time.
