It really feels like a headache when switching to a new handset as you have to first take a backup of the old handset, then transfer the required data back to the new handset. Well, it seems Sony has some app to ease your work when switching from any old iPhone or Android device to a new Xperia handset , the Xperia Transfer Mobile app.

Sony Mobile already has one Xperia Transfer app in the Google Play Store, but they have recently released this new Xperia Transfer Mobile app. Both the application allows you to move your data from any old Android phone to a new Sony Xperia, including contacts, SMS, bookmarks, photos, videos, audios and more, but the new Xperia Transfer Mobile app also provides the support for Apple’s iPhone. In order to get hands on this new app, users need to install and activate the app on both the handsets.

The following things to kept in mind: the transfer to Xperia handset is only possible if the Xperia handset has Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or more installed, the Android device from which user is transferring data must have an Android 4.0 ICS or more installed and if transferring data from iPhone, then make sure the device runs on iOS 4.0 or later.

The application establishes the connection between the two device via entering a pin code or via NFC.
