Windows 8.1 Devices To Get Nokia Here MapsIf you are a Windows 8.1 user and looking for an alternative for Google Maps and Bing Maps, then you might be pleased to know that Nokia Here Maps will be soon heading on your Windows devices. The free app was already available on Nokia’s Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet, but it seems that Nokia has finally decided to bring Here Maps to all Windows 8.1 devices, which includes Windows Pro or Windows RT devices.

Like previous version of the app, Nokia Here Maps is an all-in-one mapping solution, combining vector, satellite and 3D maps, points of interest, search and route planning. Also, like the earlier mobile version, all the Windows 8.1 devices will be able to make an offline use.

The initial version of here Maps which will be arriving on Windows 8.1 devices comes with many improvements: The offline maps load quickly, and is faster than using a website for navigation.

Thanks to use of progressive rendering and some clever optimizations to the data transfers, city pages now load four times faster than before. Along with the use of touchscreen displays to control Here Maps, user can now also use mouse and keyboard for accessing it, especially for desktop PC users. The new version will support latest high-resolution satellite imagery, resulting a considerable impact on visibility at high zoom levels.

The most important benefit of using Nokia Here Maps is that Here Maps provide offline map support, so if you are on a journey, then downloading such apps will be quiet efficient, especially where there is no internet connection.

The roll out will be starting in North America and Europe, and soon in other regions too. It seems that Microsoft will be pleased if they somehow drive traffic from Google Maps to Here Maps? What do you think?
