Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 And Galaxy Gear 2 Neo Launched With Tizen OS [MWC 2014]
Samsung today launched the two new smart watches in the club of Galaxy Gear, the all new Galaxy Gear 2 and the lighter version Galaxy Gear 2 Neo. But this time it seems the Galaxy Gear watches has arrived with lots of improvements with the first being the all new OS, the Samsung’s Tizen OS.
Well, this time Samsung’s both Galaxy Gear watches, the Galaxy Gear 2 and the Galaxy Gear 2 Neo are running Samsung’s own Tizen OS, instead of Android OS. Both the Galaxy Gear smart watches are a millimeter thinner than the first Galaxy Gear that was launched in September, 2013 at IFA.
Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 And Galaxy Gear 2 Neo
If we compare the two watches with its predecessor, the Galaxy Gear, there seems to be lots of changes. The 2.0 MP camera which was located on the strap, is now located in the watch body. Samsung has also added an IrLED sensor so users can control their TVs and set top boxes via the Samsung WatchON Remote application.
Both the Galaxy Gear 2 and the Galaxy Gear 2 Neo are powered by 1GHz dual core processor, which is little faster than its predecessor i.e 800MHz. The display and the memory storage remains the same, with a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display featuring a resolution of 320×320 pixels, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.
The most interesting addition to these two smart watches is the heart rate sensor. The heart rate sensor will allow more data to improve the fitness applications and also, the heart rate monitoring allows for more accurate sleep monitoring, which seems to be key for many wearable devices. Samsung has even added a downloadable Sleep & Stress feature to the software in the Galaxy Gear 2 and the Galaxy Gear 2 Neo.
Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 now comes with standalone music player with Bluetooth player, which means the new Galaxy Gear 2 has turned into a wearable music player. So, users don’t need any smartphones while listening music outdoors.
The Galaxy Gear 2 will come with Charcoal Black, Gold Brown and Wild Orange strap colors, while the Galaxy gear 2 Neo will get Charcoal Black, Mocha Grey and Wild Orange colors. The Galaxy Gear 2 is slightly heavier than the Galaxy Gear 2 Neo, and lighter than the predecessor Galaxy Gear. There is no camera in Galaxy Gear 2 Neo.
The battery life seems to be improved with a little smaller 300 mAh, designed to fit in the slimmer body. Bothe the Galaxy Gear 2 and the Galaxy Gear 2 Neo will be available in April. However, there are no words on pricing yet and also regarding its smartphone models compatibility.
