LG Introduces 18-Inch Flexible Transparent OLED Display
Nowadays, technologies are evolving at such a faster rate that one cannot even imagine what’s coming next. Well, it seems that LG, the South Korean giant has arrived with something bigger and this time, its not just a curved or a flexible OLED display, but instead its a flexible transparent OLED display. LG Display today announced a new 18-inch flexible transparent OLED display which can be easily rolled into a tube with about 3cm across radius.
This 18-inch flexible transparent OLED display has a resolution of about 1,200x810pixels and it has a a new polyamide film on the back of the panel which provide more flexibility to the panel. This Flexible Transparent OLED display comes with 1 million pixels and a curvature radius of 30R.
According to LG SVP and Head of R&D Center, In-Byung Kang, LG will successfully develop an Ultra HD flexible and transparent OLED panel of more than 60-inches by 2017, which will have transmittance of more than 40 percent and a curvature radius of 100R and thereby, they will be among leading future display market. Well, LG will be certainly looking to use this new Flexible Transparent OLED display in their TVs and other applications in future.
