Apple Introduces iOS 10 With 10 New Exciting Features
For any Apple Fan, WWDC is more than a festival rather than an event where Apple unleashes their biggest updates and devices of the year. This year at WWDC 2016, Apple has arrived with new releases in which the biggest release is their latest mobile operating system, the iOS 10. Apple has not only advanced some new features in Messaging, Home App, Photos, Music, News, Maps, but also has redesigned the OS with greater experience. So, let’s check out the exciting new features of iOS 10.
Messages
Messages are the first need when using a smartphone but its experience surely gets better when you use that in your iPhone. With iOS 10, Messages are now more expressive with fun animations such as fireworks taking over entire screen to celebrate a special occasion, N invisible ink to send a message which can only be revealed after a swipe. One can also send handwritten messages or even Digital Touch messages that were introduced with the Apple Watch. Emotions expressed through messages can easily be replaced with emojis. Tapback feature allow responding with just a tap and rich links enables users to look at content inline along with playing media without leaving the conversation. With end-to-end encryption, Apple had made sure that messages stay private. Also, developers can now create fun ways to communicate in a thread by integrating messages in Apps Store apps.
User Experience
Apple has enhanced the user experience in iOS 10 with 3D Touch integration and thereby, allowing information access easier and quicker than ever. They have introduced a wake-up functionality which senses automatically as user raises their phone and also, makes it easier to view all the notifications, Today View and Control Center at once without launching the app.
Siri Open To Developers
iOS 10 certainly brings major change in Siri, making it more useful than ever. Apple has opened the access for developers so that they can build on the intelligence which the Siri offers and make the interaction smarter using just their voice. Developers can use SiriKit to design the 3rd party apps to work with Siri.
Photos
Apple is excellent when it comes to camera experience and with iOS 10, it promises to introduce a new feature in Photos to the app. Photos in iOS 10 can now be easily sorted as all the photos can be scanned, classified by tagging subjects. Thanks to Memories, Photos in iOS 10 can be easily rediscovered which have been forgotten in photo library. A Memory will also contain a short automatic edited movie with music, transitions and titles which allow photos to be build in a short video clip just like a photo album. Memories uses advanced computer vision that helps analyzing photos and grouping people, places and other related things in just one album with on-device facial, object and scene recognition.
Maps
Apple has redesigned the Maps in iOS 10, making it more simpler and cleaner than before. Maps can now automatically zoom out if there are no immediate turns and if there is any action/turn on the way, the Map automatically zoom in to watch out more in detail. Also, developers can now integrate apps in Map such as OpenTable can integrate booking in the Maps and cab services like Uber and Lyft can make booking rides more easier.
QuickType Keyboard
Thanks to Siri’s Artificial Intelligence, iOS 10 now supports QuickType feature which enables contextual predictions to surface related information based on locations, calendar availability or contacts as well as predictive typing with the support of multiple languages without switching keyboards. Eg. If someone ask’s your location and you are unaware of it, then you can just ask the same question and the keyboard will send you the location at once.
Home App for Home Automation
Home App now allows to set up, manage and control your smart home appliances just from one place. Also, the Home App can remotely manage or set up home automation with Apple TV and can respond with auto triggers by just setting time, location or action. With automation products adopting HomeKit, the support for thermostats, lights, window shades, door locks, video cameras and more to the Home app has increased.
VoIP Integration In Phone Calls
Phone Calls in iOS 10 adds up VoIP integration, which allow users to call using VoIP and if received on Phone, it can be answered even from the lock screen. Also, there is a voicemail transcription and a new caller ID extension to protect against spammers for suspect calls.
Music
Apple has redesigned the Apple Music, bringing greater clarity and enhanced experience. The Library, For You, Browse and Radio tabs have been given a complete new look.
News
The News app in iOS 10 has been redesigned to improve user experience by organizing news into different sections and making it easier to find stories. Also, users can apply for paid subscriptions and all the paid content will be centralized at one place, instead of interacting with different apps.
Supported Devices
iOS 10 will be available this fall as a free software update for iPhone 5 and later, all iPad Air and iPad Pro models, iPad 4th generation, iPad Mini 2 and later, and iPod touch 6th generation.
