Spheree Is A 3D Perspective-Corrected Spherical Display For Visualization

Spheree Is A 3D Perspective-Corrected Spherical Display For VisualizationIt was about two weeks back when an international team of researchers from Brazil and Canada introduced a new concept of visualization, the Spheree at the International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques (SIGGRAPH) 2014. Spheree is a 3D Spherical display that transforms a translucent globe into a future of interactive, high resolution perspective-corrected display.

There are set of small projectors at the base of the sphere that creates views which are blended to display a multi-perspective image of 3D object. Both the location and movement of the user and Spheree are tracked using infrared cameras. These tracked location and movements then allows users to interact with different images using two ways. A user can either use a hand track device that lets user with precise pointing and selections on Spheree or use bimanual gestures to adjust the rotation, translation and scale of 3D images. Since, Spheree does not have any seams or blind spots, rendered scenes are not occluded and the user can view a stereo 3D experience.

Also, user can import generate 3D models irrespective whether they are computer generated or real objects into Spheree. Watch out the video belowto know more about Spheree and please let us know your views on this emerging technology.
