Kingston’s DataTraveler Locker+ G3 is a perfect companion when it comes to securing your personal data such as receipts, bank statements and other sensitive information stored on flash drive. It is Kingston’s highly secure flash drive with faster speed and durable design. Well, we have reviewed a Kingston DataTraveler Locker+ G3 32GB flash drive to check on its features. Below is the tested overview of DataTraveler Locker+ G3 32GB flash drive.

1. Design

The DataTraveler Locker+ G3 32GB comes with a stylish and durable design. Thanks to the metal casing provided to the flash drive, the DT Locker+ G3 is highly durable and looks shiny with metallic silver casing. The DT Locker+ G3 has a dimension of 60.56mm x 18.6 mm x 9.75 mm. It has a built-in key loop at the bottom corner which is designed to allow users carry it anywhere. 2. Highly Secure

The Kingston’s DataTraveler Locker+ G3 is their first flash drive with highly secure and metallic design. It secures the stored data with hardware encryption and password protection and, thus providing a double layer security. How it works? When you first connect the DataTraveler Locker+ G3 to your PC or a laptop, you need to click on the Kingston logo showing DTL+ G3. On clicking on it, there appears a device login Window(DataTraveler Locker+ G3 Login Launcher) asking user to enter the password.If an unauthorized user trying to access the flash drive is not aware of the password, then after 10 wrong login attempts the DataTraveler Locker+ G3 flash drive is automatically formatted and the user loses all the data.

In case, user forgets the password, then the person can reset the password by clicking on “Reset Password” (But, user loses all data here too).

So, what’s the catch to use it? If you are an “Authorized user”, then make sure you set a proper hint when you forgot your password and also, make sure to check whether “Caps Lock is ON/OFF” to prevent from 10 unsuccessful attempts.

3. Compatibility

The DataTraveler Locker+ G3 is pretty robust when it comes to compatibility. It is compatible with both Windows OS (from Windows XP to Windows 8.1) and Mac OS X. Not just that, this USB 3.0 flash drive is backward compatible with USB 2.0. However, USB 2.0 offers slower transfer speed as compare to others. This DataTraveler Locker+ G3 32Gb flash drive is successfully tested with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.

4. Speed

Not just secure and durable, the DataTraveler Locker+ G3 also delivers 2 to 3 times faster speed as compared to its previous generation. According to Kingston, its USB 3.0 interface offers 135MB/s read and 30MB/s write speed and its USB 2.0 interface offers 30MB/s read and 20MB/s write speed. However, we have tested the DataTraveler Locker+ G3 32GB flash drive with a USB 2.0 interface using SpeedOut, it shows 32.372MB/s read and 27.631MB/s write speed which is little faster as mentioned by Kingston.

5. Optional Backup

The DataTraveler Locker+ G3 offers an optional backup feature i.e. automatic USB to Cloud by ClexX backup which allows user to automatically backup data from their DT L+ G3 flash drive to any of teh following cloud storages: Google Drive, Microsoft’s OneDrive, Amazon S3, Dropbox. So, even if the flash drive is stolen, the data backup is stored at a safe place.
