Xiaomi Mi 4i launched in India for Rs 12,999
Xiaomi had held a global launch in India this week for its newest smartphone. We had already seen their “Iiscoming” campaign for a few days now. The launch of the Mi 4i was highly anticipated that it overshadowed the Asus Zenfone 2 launch which took place on the same day. There were lots of speculations about the device and some leaks relating to the naming of the device as well. The leaks were true and the device is indeed named the Xiaomi Mi 4i.
Xiaomi Mi 4i
The phone is a toned down version of Xiaomi’s last year flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 4. The device sports a 5 inch display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixel which takes the pixel density to 441PPI. The Mi 4i currently is the only smartphone under 15000 rupees to have a Full HD display. It comes with a 2nd Gen Snapdragon 615 processor which is developed by Qualcomm in India.
It is 64 bit enabled and is an Octa Core processor, the 2nd Generation chip allows a higher clock speed of 1.7GHz compared to 1.5GHz clock on the older chipset. This makes it faster than the other Snapdragon 615 devices currently available in the market. It runs MIUI 6 and come with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.
The Mi 4i has a 13 megapixel autofocus camera at the back with a dual tone LED flash. The camera is capable of FullHD video recording. At the front the device has a 5 megapixel wide angle camera for selfies and video calling. Xiaomi has worked on the camera software as usual and the device comes with lots of enhancements modes for the user.
Xiaomi is using Sony/ Samsung camera sensors in the Mi 4i. In terms of storage the device has 16GB of on board storage and thats about it. There is no microSD card slot so the storage is limited to about 11GB for the users apps and storage. The device however supports USB On the Go and one can simply plug a pendrive into the phone and access the data directly.
The phone houses a non removable 3120mAh battery which is big for a phone this size. Xiaomi had to make lots of changes to the internals to accommodate such a big battery. The Mi 4i also supports 4G LTE on both SIM slots and is compatible with TD-LTE Band 40 which is currently available in India. If we look only at the specs the device looks like the true competitor of the Yu Yureka.
The device has a smaller display than the Yureka but the higher resolution makes the display better to look at. Also the Mi 4i has a bigger 3120mAh battery compared to the 2500mAh battery in the Yureka. The device is online exclusive and will be available on Flipkart through flash sales. So if you don’t manage to get your hands on the Yu Yureka, the Xiaomi Mi 4i should be your next target.
