Samsung Gear VR Headset Surfaces On Web
It seems that Samsung will be soon introducing their own Virtual Reality (VR) headset at IFA 2014. Thanks to SamMobile, we have confirmed existence of the Samsung’s upcoming Gear VR headset which is a virtual reality headset that is set to make its appearance alongside the Galaxy Note 4 at IFA 2014 in this month of September.
However, this Samsung’s VR headset will not be a complete standalone virtual reality headset, but instead Samsung seemed to have develop the VR headset with a modular design. The Samsung Gear VR headset will allow users to dock in a Galaxy device into the Gear VR using a USB 3.0 cable. The Samsung Gear VR will make use of the smartphone’s accelerometer, gyroscope and processing power to track head motion such as movement of head with the built-in sensor in the headset.
With AMOLED display technology, the Samsung Gear VR headset will offer an impressive VR experience and with this design, Samsung Gear VR will require less manufacturing cost and therefor, will retail at lower cost. The Gear VR headset is equipped with the elastic head band and soft padded cushions on each side of the device and on the right side of the Gear VR headset comes a see-through button, which allows smartphone’s rear-facing camera sensor to supply the user with a video feed of the real outside world.
The Gear VR comes with a touchpad located directly under the see-through button, which lets users navigate through UI on their Galaxy smartphone. This seems to make the overall experience easier than the VR hardware from Oculus and Sony. However, the hardware for Gear VR is being developed by Samsung, but its software is developed by Oculus VR. So, what do you think about this upcoming VR headset?
